Skills

The DER-IC network supports the development of learning and development to meet industry requirements and drive growth within the sectors.

DER-IC supports various organisations including the Electronic Revolution Skills Hub, The Warwick Electrification Deployment (WELD), The Institute of Electrification and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (IESAM), Practical Power Electronic Machines and Drives for all (EPEMD) and Manufacturing Skills Academy (MSA).

Electric Revolution Skills Hub

The Electric Revolution Skills Hub provides inclusive access to specialised training and employment across the UK, as well as networking opportunities and unmatched advice and strategy from fellow businesses in the sector.

WELD

The Warwick Electrification Deployment (WELD) project is delivered by WMG’s Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) Group and the School of Engineering’s Power Electronics group to develop new educational activities.

WELD benefits from the two ‘Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation’ (DER-IC) facilities at the university: the Winding Centre of Excellence and the power electronics reliability and failure analysis space.

IESAM

The Institute of Electrification and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (IESAM) is the first institute to address the industry need for PEMD training in the North East.

It’s funded by the Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge, co-funded by Newcastle University, and delivered by Innovate UK for UK Research and Innovation.

MSA

The Manufacturing Skills Academy, housed in the flagship National Manufacturing Institute Scotland facility, offers advanced manufacturing training and development opportunities for individuals at all levels of their career.
