Following the previous year’s cancellation due to Covid, this year’s Cenex-LCV proved to be incredibly popular with 3,329 in attendance, 65 speakers and 171 exhibitors. For the first time, Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centres (DER-IC) showcased to the industry with their large scale exhibition stand and keynote talk at Cenex-LCV.
As the government drives forward with their net zero goals, DER-IC plays a key role in helping to accelerate solutions and address the challenges for the power electronics, machines and drives (PEMD) supply chain market in the UK. The showcase at Cenex-LCV allowed businesses the opportunity to meet with the team, understand the opportunities in electrification and gain support in their PEMD supply chain challenges and capabilities.
Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centres were set up in 2020 by the Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge at UK Research and Innovation team and are led by Newcastle University. The team were delighted to exhibit alongside other exhibitors including the UK Research and Innovation team and other partners including WMG, University of Warwick.
The DER-IC stand also proudly presented WMG, University of Warwick Moto’s Frontier bike, the University’s first fully electric race-spec superbike which garnered much attention along event attendees. Find out more about the bike here. To discover more about our partners WMG, University of Warwick and their involvement in Cenex, visit WMG’s Cenex webpage here.
The stand, designed by exhibition company Damn Good and creative agency Altogether, displayed key elements of DER-IC, including the supply chain support provided by the project, allowing industry attendees to understand in a snapshot how DER-IC can help accelerate their development in the PEMD supply chain.
The stand also launched and presented the brand-new DER-IC animation. View the animated video here. The new film helps inform the PEMD supply chain about DER-IC to enable them to contact the centres and find out how we can support them in their journey to electrification.
The DER-IC also spoke at Cenex-LCV at a main event seminar on “Strengthening the PEMD supply chain” with the North East COO Rachel Chambers speaking on the subject of how the DER-IC provides support to scale and grow. She spoke alongside other notable speakers including Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge Director Professor Will Drury, Head of Technology Trends at Advanced Propulsion Centre UK – David OudNijeweme, National Electrification Skills Framework Programme Lead at WMG, University of Warwick – Dr Benjamin Silverstone and Head of Automotive Electrification at McLaren Applied – Stephen Lambert.
