DER-IC in the North East
DER-IC Newcastle University is equipped with DER-funded Power Electronics and Electrical Machines assembly lines.
Power Electronic Assembly Line is located within a cleanroom, state-of-the-art, flexible, industry-representative equipment enables custom packaging of silicon die, devices and circuitry, and surface mount circuit board manufacture and inspection. Specialist inspection and diagnostic equipment enables verification of manufacturing process quality.
Electrical Machines Assembly Line includes a range of flexible, automated assembly, and test and measurement equipment, providing an end-to-end platform for electrical machine manufacturing process development.

DER-IC in the Midlands
DER-IC in the Midlands is led by WMG at the University of Warwick and includes the Power Electronics and Machines Centre (PEMC) at the University of Nottingham. The equipment includes:
High Frequency Coil Manufacturing and Magnetic Test Characterisation with capability to develop and manufacture electrical machines to operate at higher frequencies – Based at the University of Nottingham PEMC
Power Electronics Reliability and Failure Analysis Facility focusing on improving reliability and robustness – Based at the University of Warwick
Winding Centre of Excellence is a facility for UK supply chain companies to manufacture discrete hairpin machines to production quality – Based at WMG

Wide Bandgap Power Electronics Component Industrial Pilot Line is the first phase of plan to create a sovereign WBG PE supply chain – Based at Swansea University
Recycled Sintered Magnets Production Line for a more secure UK ‘end to end’ supply chain for recycled rare earth magnets from processed oxides – Based at the University of Birmingham
Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult Prototype Facility is a facility to prototype ceramic and copper elements and sub-assemblies within highly integrated PE modules – Based in the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult.

DER-IC in Scotland
Led by the University of Strathclyde and anchoring innovative power systems and manufacturing capability across NMIS and PNDC. The equipment is based at the University of Strathclyde.
High Power Integrated Electric Propulsion and Powertrains Accelerator is an innovative propulsion and powertrain systems validation capability at MW scale with representative, industry-scale power hardware in the loop infrastructure applicable to the energy, marine, aerospace, rail and off-highway sectors.
