Unlocking Innovation: RailDecarb21
Time & Location
About the Event
Tying in with the COP26 Conference also to be held in Glasgow this autumn, this event will focus on the key theme of Decarbonisation, touching on the related topics of resilience, conservation, recycling, ecological issues, the circular economy and sustainability throughout the rail infrastructure and rolling stock spheres.
Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centres will be in attendance. Come visit us in the exhibition space and we'll be happy to speak to you about opportunities within the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives supply chain. Our Business Development Manager, Dan Cutting will also be presenting on the following:
DER-IC Scotland – Supporting the Supply Chain to accelerate Rail Decarbonisation, 10:30am
The presentation will provide an overview of DER-IC Scotland’s capability to support the rail industry in decarbonisation through new and converted rolling stock and the electrification and improvement of the existing rail network. Specifically, through the development of the supporting technologies such as Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD), and power systems integration.
The UK’s existing technology development and supply chain development networks are currently disconnected. DER-IC Scotland offers an opportunity to utilise a range of capability to tie early stage system level development right through to sub-system and component manufacture and test. Drawing on expertise across the University of Strathclyde and University of St Andrews Hydrogen Accelerator through to drive sub-system and component level with University of Edinburgh and University of Glasgow and manufacture and test at National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland and PNDC. DER-IC offers a unified approach to technology development, manufacture and test in order to accelerate supply chain growth, create jobs and reduce time to market.
There will be presentation sessions from industry thought leaders, focusing on the key topics, challenges and opportunities in the rail decarbonisation story, across both embedded and operational carbon. There will be parallel breakout sessions on the hot topics of traction decarbonisation: Hydrogen, Battery and Low-cost electrification. The agenda is currently being finalised and will be released shortly, but rest assured there will be ample opportunity for the networking and live Q+A that Unlocking Innovation has built it's success on pre-COVID - We're looking forward to seeing everyone in person again too!
